Hearmony

Privacy policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Peak Apps Studio makes Hearmony, an ear training and sight reading app for iPhone. This page explains what happens to information when you use the app and this website. If anything here is unclear, write to info@peakappsstudio.com.

In short

What stays on your iPhone

Your answers, levels, streak, mixed-up pairs and their review dates, custom drills, song titles you type as anchors and your settings are kept in a database inside the app on your device. We cannot see them. "Export a backup" in Settings writes them to a file that you choose where to save; "Import a backup" reads such a file back. "Erase all data" in Settings deletes everything, and deleting the app does the same.

Update checks (Expo)

Hearmony can receive small fixes without a full App Store update. For this it uses Expo's update service (expo-updates, run by 650 Industries, Inc., "Expo"). When the app starts it asks Expo whether a newer version of its code exists. The request includes a random installation ID created by the app on first launch, the app and runtime version, and the platform. If the app crashes while starting, the next check also sends the error message and the identifiers of the updates that failed, so a faulty update can be withdrawn. Expo uses this to deliver updates and to count launches and failed launches. Like any internet request it shows your IP address to Expo. The data is not linked to your name, contains none of your practice data, is not used for advertising and is not sold. Expo's policy: expo.dev/privacy.

Purchases (Apple)

Hearmony Pro is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your card details, name or Apple Account email. Apple sends our sales server App Store Server Notifications about purchases, renewals, cancellations and refunds of Hearmony Pro. They contain the product, price, currency, storefront country, dates and Apple's transaction identifiers, and we use them only to count sales. They are stored on a server run for us by Cloudflare. To check whether Pro is active, the app asks StoreKit on your iPhone; a local copy of that answer lets Pro keep working offline for a few days.

Sounds and content

All sounds, the note glyphs and the song anchors are inside the app. Hearmony downloads nothing while you practise, so it works offline.

This website

hearmony.peakappsstudio.com is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and operations. The site sets no cookies and has no analytics. The tools on the site (note names, intervals, the perfect pitch test, the clef charts) run in your browser and send nothing to us.

Children

Hearmony is rated 4+ and is meant for music learners of any age. It does not ask anyone for personal information, including children, and it contains no ads or links to social networks.

Your rights

Because the app keeps your practice data on your device, you control it directly with the export and erase options. For anything that reaches Expo or Apple, see their policies; for questions or requests about data we may hold (such as an email you sent us), write to info@peakappsstudio.com and we will answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or Californian law) you may have rights of access, correction, deletion and objection; we honour them for everyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date. Material changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
